There are many phone systems out there for businesses and what is the best really depends on what you need. Most businesses are happy to be able to answer 1-100 or more incoming calls and simply want the option to place a call on hold and or transfer the call. If that is you then any Hybrex, LG-Ericsson, Samsung, Alcatel, Commander, etc will do the job. 80-90% of businesses just want to take, make, or transfer a call and of course hang up on them after providing a service or product.

What to look for?

If you need the basics then look for a phone system that offers you an easy to use handset, and that will not cost the world. Look out for brands that offer at least 1yr warranty.

AVOID:

Buying more than you need, but select a system that can grow with you so you can always save money now and add to it when you need it. Avoid contract purchases as you can normally finance hardware yourself or thru a broker without being contracted into long phone plans with supposed cheap calls. Nothing is free and I have heard companies paying 5 times the usual cost of hardware when they have signed into a 2-5 year phone plan deal.

What do I need?

Consider do you need an answering machine for about $50, or a professional voicemail system from $300. An answering machine is great if you just need basic messages and is cheap. if you want to customise messages and calls, then voicemail built into a Hybrex or LG system is great as you have options to take multiple messages at the same time on multiple lines and you can have 1 message for line 1 and another for line 2 and so on. Do you need auto-attendant? Auto-attendant features let a PABX system answer your calls whilst you are busy and then direct the call to voicemail or to the warehouse, or to a mobile phone, etc.

Summary:

If you have just 1 phone line then save your cash and avoid a phone system. if you want the basics (take, make, transfer calls) then go for basic systems at good value that you can upgrade and watch the costs of upgrades.

Happy hunting, searching, buying, installing or repairing. Source
